What we do to help...
Plant Dewi has developed many support initiatives to accomplish its mission, from groups specifically tailored to meet the needs of those living in rural isolation as well as fathers and young parent’s and larger community-based family support services. The projects are in areas where there are huge pressures on family life which threatens their inclusion in the community, their aspirations and hope.
The projects are safe places to be, providing a space to pause in a busy world and reflect on the journey. They are places where parents can gain their bearings, make friends, chat together about issues that matter to them, give and receive support and empower each other. Together parents can find the strength to navigate a way forward in an environment based on mutual trust and acceptance, an environment that allows for mistakes, makes room for forgiveness and shows grace so that families move forward confidently with new knowledge, skills and motivation.
Family Centres...
provide a caring place where parents are supported to grow personally, to develop positive relationships with their children, families and communities; to increase their knowledge of childcare, to develop a sense of belonging and to improve their wellbeing.
Families Together Groups...
engage with parents to create an extended family to support family life, integrating isolated families into their local communities through peer support and friendship.
Supporting Dads...
project offers opportunities for dads to socialise, share food, share experiences, recognise the important role dads play in their family and community and increase their networks of support and the Dad and Me After School Club helps to deepen the bond fathers share with their children.
Young Parents' Hubs...
provide friendship networks, peer-support, develop future aspirations and support young parents in their new caring role as well as young people.
Baby Bundle Bank...
in partnership with the Mothers Union makes life a little easier for new or expectant young parents in need. Baby Bundle Bank provides essential resources and equipment to welcome a new baby into the family home, relieving young parents of the worry and anxiety of how they will be able to afford to provide them.
